REMOVING THE PANELS

IMPORTANT:  The side and front glass panels are made from tempered glass. Users should avoid setting tempered glass on stone (e.g. granite or quartz countertops), ceramics (e.g. tile floors), or other materials that are harder/denser than glass. Failure to observe these guidelines can result in the tempered glass being damaged or destroyed. If you damage either of your glass panels, we do offer replacement panels on our website.

REMOVING THE SIDE PANELS

  • Find the notch along the top-rear edge of the case, tip the side panels off the edge of the case, and lift the panels off.
  • Place side glass panel somewhere soft/safe, such as a couch or wooden table, while you are working on your PC to ensure you don’t experience accidental damage.
3500X_Side_Panels

REMOVING THE FRONT PANEL

  • Remove the left (glass) side panel and simply pull the front glass pane outward away from the case. It’s connected with two ball snaps on both the top and bottom of the panel.
  • Place front glass panel somewhere soft/safe, such as a couch or wooden table, while you are working on your PC to ensure you don’t experience accidental damage.

INSTALLING THE MOTHERBOARD

The 3500X supports mITX, mATX, ATX and E-ATX (up to 305mm x 277mm) motherboards, including ASUS BTF, MSI Project Zero, and Gigabyte Project Stealth motherboards with reversed power connections.

  • Before installation, ensure your motherboard I/O plate/shield is in place, if required.
  • Align your motherboard with the standoffs for your motherboard type and secure it using the provided motherboard screws.
TIP: If standoffs don't align, uninstall unused ones and relocate them to the open standoff slot in the motherboard tray for your specific motherboard.

INSTALLING THE FRONT PANEL I/O CABLES

  • Connect the FPANEL plug directly to your motherboard front panel I/O pins, following the keyed connector.
3500X_Fpanel_Connection

INSTALLING A NON-STANDARD MOTHERBOARD

  • For non-standard Intel or AMD motherboards, use the included adapter to connect from the FPANEL plug to the individual pins.
TIP: If your PC experiences issues or doesn't turn on with the FPANEL plug, consider trying the adapter cable.

INSTALLING A RADIATOR

The 3500X comes with two 360mm radiator mounts on the top and side, along with a smaller 120mm radiator mount in the rear.

TIP: Ensure the radiator is higher than the pump for expected noise/thermal performance and reliability. Avoid installing an AIO in the bottom 360mm mount to prevent premature pump wear, reduced thermal performance, and increased noise.

INSTALLING PCI DEVICES

The 3500X fits most modern graphics cards horizontally out of the box.

  • After installing the motherboard, remove screws in the PCI covers for card accommodation.
3500X_PCI_Cards
  • Slide the card in until the PCIe retention clicks on the motherboard.
  • Align screws in the PCIe shield and secure the expansion card into the case.

INSTALLING A GPU IN A VERTICAL ORIENTATION

The 3500X also allows GPUs to be mounted vertically by simply rotating the PCI plate and installing a PCIe Riser Card (sold separately).

  • To start, remove the three screws in the PCI plate from the rear of the case.
  • Rotate the PCI plate.
  • Reinstall the 3 screws removed from the plate prior.
  • Screw the PCIe Riser Card into the standoffs using spare HDD/Motherboard screws that came with the case and connect it to the appropriate PCIe slot on your motherboard.
  • Mount the GPU to the PCIe Riser Card and screw the GPU into the PCI plate with the included screw.

INSTALLING HARD DISK AND SOLID STATE DRIVES

The 3500X supports 2x 3.5” HDDs & 2x 2.5” SSDs simultaneously using the removable drive plate.

DRIVE PLATE REMOVAL

In order to install a SSD or HDD, the drive plate needs to be removed.

  • To remove the drive/controller plate from the rear of the motherboard, unscrew the set screw at the bottom of the plate, then tilt and lift the plate upwards.
3500X_Drive_Plate_Removal

INSTALLING A SOLID STATE DRIVE

  • To install SSDs, flip the drive plate over and screw the SSDs into the drive plate.
NOTE: You must install the SSDs before the HDDs if you intend to install both on the same plate location.
3500X_SSD_Install

INSTALLING A HARD DISK

To install a HDD, screw the HDD in from the bottom of the plate, into the bottom of the HDD.

3500X_HDD_Install

INSTALLING THE DRIVE PLATE

Hook the drive plate back into the dedicated slot on the case and screw in the set screw at the bottom of the plate.

INSTALLING A POWER SUPPLY

INSTALLING A STANDARD POWER SUPPLY

  • Slide the PSU into the PSU area.
  • Secure the screws to the PSU exhaust area.

INSTALLING THE FANS IN THE SIDE

  • To install fans in the side, align your fans to the fan mounting slots and screw a standard self-tapping fan screw into the fan frame.
TIP: Only turn each screw a couple turns so you can slide the fans up and down to align them as you wish.
3500X_Fans_Side_Installation

INSTALLING THE FANS ON THE BOTTOM

  • To install fans on the bottom of the case, align your fans along the bottom and use the included long fan screws to secure your fans to the case.
TIP:  If you are installing an iCUE LINK fan here, position the fan so the iCUE LINK plug is closer to the motherboard tray for an easy cable run through the bottom cable management holes.

MAINTENANCE

CLEANING YOUR CASE FILTERS

The 3500X features removable dust filters on the bottom, side, and top of the case. The bottom filter pulls out, while the top and the side filters are magnetically attached.

  • Clean the filter using air or water, ensuring filters are fully dry before reinstallation.
3500X_Filter_Removal

CABLE MANAGEMENT TIPS

The 3500X Series includes various cable management features such as:

  • Zip tie points, strategically placed for routing power cables to specific devices.
  • iCUE LINK cable hooks in the top panel to securely hold iCUE LINK cables without additional attachments.
TIP:  Use the zip tie points on the rear of the case to tidy up unruly USBs or other peripheral cables. Motherboards that feature connectors on the rear face of the board provide you with the cleanest build.

CONNECTING YOUR FANS

3500X ARGB - PWM PLUGGING INTO THE MOTHERBOARD

  • Daisy-chain each fan’s PWM connector from one to the next until you’ve completed the chain.
3500X_Chain_PWM
  • Connect the long PWM extension to one of your motherboard’s SYS_FAN ports or a fan port of your choice. This will allow you to control your fans via the motherboard software.
NOTE:  The 4-pin PWM plug only powers the fan’s motor and is a completely separate circuit from the RGB.
3500X_PWM_Connection

3500X ARGB - RGB PLUGGING INTO THE MOTHERBOARD

  • Daisy-chain each fan’s RGB connector from to the next until you’ve completed the chain.
3500X_Chain_ARGB
  • Connect the long RGB extension from the last fan and plug directly into your motherboard’s ARGB port. This will allow you to control your RGB via the motherboard software.
NOTE:   Each motherboard manufacturer has their own name for this header but it should be a 4-pin with the 3rd pin missing and is usually called JRGB/DRGB/ARGB or Addressable RGB.

For connecting the iCUE LINK 3500X RGB Fans, please refer to the iCUE LINK RX Series fans quick start guide.
