How to Install the CORSAIR MP600 CORE MINI SSD in the ASUS ROG Ally

The CORSAIR MP600 CORE MINI and MP600 MINI provide great storage performance in a tiny package, making them ideal for portable and handheld systems that rely on the M.2 2230 form factor, like the ASUS ROG ALLY.

Installing the MP600 CORE MINI in the ASUS ROG Ally

Before installing a new SSD, make sure that the ASUS ROG Ally's firmware has been completely updated and that the microSD card is clear.

With the ASUS ROG Ally powered off, place it face down on a soft surface and use a Size 0 Phillips screwdriver to remove the six screws from the back of the handheld.

Note: The bottom center screw is captive and cannot be fully removed.

Use a plastic prying tool to undo the clips holding the back panel in place, gently prying along the sides.

With the back panel removed, lift the black cover between the fans and undo the clip holding the battery connector. Disconnect the battery by gently pulling up and out of the socket.

Remove the original SSD. Simply undo the screw and slide the original SSD out of the socket.

Slide the CORSAIR MP600 CORE MINI (or MP600 MINI) into the socket and secure it with the screw. Reconnect the battery, then re-install the back cover and secure it with the screws removed earlier to re-assemble the ASUS ROG Ally.

Reinstall Windows Using Cloud Recovery

Plug in power, then hold volume down and press power to boot into the ASUS ROG Ally’s BIOS.

The CLOUD RECOVERY tool can be found under ADVANCED, the recovery process requires an internet connection to download the latest Windows 11 image directly from the ASUS servers.

Once recovery is completed, the ASUS ROG Ally will reboot into Windows 11 with factory settings. Further updates to the operating system, drivers, and applications may be required before installing games.
