CORSAIR RMx PSUs are now ATX 3.1 compatible

Those looking to futureproof their builds will be delighted to hear we’ve now updated the CORSAIR RMx PSU lineup to be fully compatible with the ATX 3.1 power supply standard. This means that the new 750, 850, and 1000 watt models are now fully equipped to take on the latest hardware components. ATX 3.1 compliance is not the only improvement here, though, so let's take a look at everything else, too.

ATX 3.1 compatibility

ATX 3.1 compliance introduces some important advantages: All three variants of the RMx PSUs include a native 12v-2x6 cable fully capable of powering the latest and most power-hungry graphics cards. This should draw out a sigh of relief, as you no longer need to worry about managing masses of cables and adapters. Just plug one cable in, and you’re done. We’ve also included some low-profile cable combs so you can keep this cable as tidy as possible.

Improved thermal performance

The improvements here are twofold. Firstly, the main PSU PCB features a totally new six-layer design, secondly, we’ve upgraded the performance of the 140mm fan. It uses a fluid dynamic bearing and has our “Zero RPM” mode, meaning that it won’t even start to spin until the PSU hits a certain threshold. Those who still prefer a manual touch will be pleased to see an old-school control knob positioned on the back, so you can crank it up or slow it down without needing any software.

Long-time CORSAIR consumers might also notice an updated visual design, fitting in with our more recent cases such as the 3500X. The tri-lobular design not only looks fancy, but it makes for a nice low-restriction fan grill, too.

Efficiency and reliability

Since we switched to Cybenetics certifications, we’re pleased to say that the new ATX 3.1 RMx PSUs are gold-certified, meaning that they’re rated for up to 91% efficiency, and A+ rated when it comes to noise. Less heat, less noise, more efficiency overall. All this backed up with a ten-year warranty.
