Every Corsair gaming mouse explained

We make a lot of pc gaming hardware here at CORSAIR. Pretty much anything you put inside a PC or on a desk near it, we've got you covered, and this includes gaming mice. In fact, just over the course of 2023 we've added four new gaming mice to our lineup.

So, this means that it’s a perfect time to do a quick write-up covering our current range of gaming mice all in one place so you can figure out which one is right for you. Some of these mice even have their own dedicated articles, so keep an eye out for those links if you want a more in-depth look at the corresponding mouse. So, let’s go over all the currently available CORSAIR gaming mice, starting with our latest offerings, then moving onto the classics.

Well, first, we’ll quickly note that some of these mice have a few variants. If this is the case we’ll talk about it, different versions of essentially the same mouse will not get their own sections. Let’s be reasonable here.

CORSAIR M75 AIR WIRELESS

If you’re primarily an FPS player, then the M75 AIR is your best choice. FPS games require fast, accurate mouse movements. This means that heavier mice with a load of extra buttons are not optimal here.

The M75 AIR is optimal. It uses our latest MARKSMAN 26K optical sensor and weighs only 60g (2.1oz). The miniscule weight takes care of the speed, and the MARKSMAN sensor covers the accuracy. It’s also wireless either through 2.4GHz or Bluetooth, so the connectivity is comprehensive.

It’s feature-light and performance-focused. If you’re primarily an FPS player, then this is the CORSAIR mouse you should get. For a bit of additional performance, you can also get glass skates and grip tape kits, too. Check out our full M75 AIR article for all the details, but for now, we’re moving onto probably the polar opposite in terms of mouse design, the Scimitar.

CORSAIR SCIMITAR ELITE WIRELESS

Here we pivot from spartan design in pursuit of FPS agility to extensive features to provide MMO performance. Enter the CORSAIR SCIMITAR ELITE WIRELESS.

MMO mice are interesting as extra buttons cease being “extra” and begin to be essential. This explains the rather specific arrangement of buttons on the side. MMO gaming requires a lot of abilities, casts, and skills. These often need to be activated super quickly one after the next.

This is why we use a 3x4 grid. This results in 12 buttons in an even arrangement. Additionally, every other column is textured. This means that after some practice, you’ll be able to know where on the grid your thumb is at any given moment, without looking at it.

Of course, this on its own wouldn’t be ideal for everyone due to the pretty wide range of hand sizes out there. So, we made the grid moveable, with a total range of 8mm. This means any hand sizes will be accommodated, and it’s adjustable via a single hex bolt and we’ve included the corresponding hex key, too. Take a look at our full breakdown of the SCIMITAR ELITE WIRELESS for all the info.

If you’re unconcerned about going wireless, we have a wired version of the SCIMITAR RGB ELITE that is easier on you wallet. However it’s sensor isn’t quite as fast and there are some other minor differences. Check out the product page for more details.

CORSAIR NIGHTSABRE WIRELESS RGB

The NIGHTSABRE WIRELESS RGB, by comparison, is a far more versatile offering. It splits the difference in terms of buttons, weight, and shape. As a result, it’s a gaming mouse that’s effective in any genre of game.

This makes sense, too, as most people do not have the resources or inclination to keep several different gaming mice around to swap out when changing game.

Given that the NIGHTSABRE is designed to be a gaming mouse suited for all types of game, we spared no expense in terms of features. That means the same MARKSMAN sensor, and triple mode connectivity. Additionally, there are 11 programmable buttons, meaning that you do have some customizability if you want to transfer some binds away from the keyboard and onto your mouse.

Compared to the M75 AIR and the SCIMITAR ELITE WIRELESS, you also get a lot more RGB lighting from the NIGHTSABRE, with seven addressable zones. All of which are nicely diffused, so you get more of a vivid glow as opposed to a sharp flicker. Everything else can be found on our main NIGHTSABRE article.

CORSAIR DARKSTAR WIRELESS

Another recent addition to our collection of gaming mice is the CORSAIR DARKSTAR WIRELESS. This mouse is your best option if you spend most of your time in MOBA games, with a not-insignificant remainder in MMOs.

You’ll find a grippy thumb pad on the side, encircled by six programmable buttons. Meaning you can easily reach any binds that you want, without jeopardizing your grip. This is particularly vital for MOBAs where rapid mouse movement often coincides with rapid activation of abilities and casts.

The DARKSTAR is also a great choice for people who work from home, two extra buttons nestled within the left mouse button can be bound to anything you like. Additionally, this mouse is equipped with side scroll, allowing you to use the scroll wheel to navigate documents vertically, and horizontally. This is great for productivity and hard to go without once you’ve tried it. Additional imagery, details, and specs can be located in our main DARKSTAR page.

CORSAIR M65

The M65 is one of our most popular gaming mice designs and arguably our most iconic. This is for good reason, as the M65 hides a few interesting features beneath its automotive-inspired chassis.

The first of which is are the six included weights. These are secured into three sockets, with up to two weights per socket. These sockets are positioned in a triangular arrangement. This is interesting, because it allows you the option of altering the mouse’s center of gravity, even making it off-balance. An imbalanced mouse is traditionally a bad thing, but some players may prefer it.

Another unique feature of the M65 ULTRA (Not the ELITE) is its ability to recognize physical gestures as inputs. For example, tiling the mouse up at the nose could be bound to ‘R’ for reloading, or rolling it to the right by a certain amount could switch weapons. You can even decide how much the move needs to be tilted in each axis before it’s registered as an input to eliminate accidental inputs.

Last, but not least, we have the DPI clutch. This takes the form of a dedicated button on the thumb-side. That, by default, lowers the DPI while it’s held down. Being able to temporarily change your DPI at the touch of a button is great, and especially valuable for gaining a bit of accuracy with scoped weapons, as it can mitigate an otherwise shaky hand that’s amplified when zoomed in. You can find the wired and wireless variants of the M65 over on our website.

CORSAIR SABRE RGB

The SABRE series of mice are the best choice for those who want a lightweight FPS gaming mouse with a slightly more right-handed shape than the M75 AIR. They are slightly heavier, but plenty of players prefer a mouse with a bit more heft.

Additionally, we find CORSAIR QUICKSTRIKE buttons. These are Omron switches where the buttons you click have zero travel before actuating the button. This creates a super responsive experience and the switches are validated for 50m clicks, so you get to enjoy the responsiveness for a long time to come.

The SABRE RGB series of mice are available wired and wireless, too. So, regardless of your connectivity preferences, we’ve got you covered.

CORSAIR KATAR

Continuing with FPS mice, we get to the KATAR lineup. These are feature-light and performance-focused like the SABRE and M75, but have a different shape.

The shape of gaming mice is arguably the most important aspect, so gamers tend to have very strong preferences. Given that we too are gamers, we try to provide as many shape options as possible.

KATAR_ELITE_WIRELESS_RENDER_01

You’ll find the KATAR a touch flatter than our other gaming mice, and the shape tapers at the nose and at the back, resembling a diamond or oval shape. This shape is less common than others, but popular enough to retain its place in our lineup. Additionally, if your hands are on the small side, this is probably the best option for you, as the slim and flat form-factor keeps everything closer together.

It's worth noting here that you are looking at a different weight depending on whether you go for the PRO, ELITE WIRLESS, or PRO XT. So, take a look at each of them and find the perfect KATAR for you.

CORSAIR DARK CORE RGB PRO

Moving over to a less game-specific type of mouse, we have the DARK CORE RGB PRO. This one has a lot of novel features, making it a versatile option. The coolest of which is that it has virtually limitless battery life, if you have a Qi-enabled mouse pad.

There’s also a convenient thumb-rest on the side of the mouse, and on the other side, we’ve included two options, one of which provides a small ledge to rest your pinky on. So you can pick whichever you prefer, and swap at any time.

Other than that, we find eight programmable buttons, Bluetooth, 2.4Ghz Wireless, wired connectivity settings, and a sensor capable of 18,000 DPI. If you want all the options, this is the mouse for you.

CORSAIR NIGHTSWORD RGB

If you’re after a similar shape to the DARK CORE, but you’re jealous of the tunable weight of the M65, then the NIGHTSWORD RGB is the mouse you need.

Providing both a nice place to support your thumb and a lot of rubberized grippiness, this mouse is among the comfiest that we’ve created thus far. Add the tunable weight and you’ve got a gaming mouse that really feels at home in the palm of your hand.

Additionally, the eight programmable buttons mean that it can hold its own in all genres. The profile of the NIGHTSWORD RGB is also pretty flat, so if you’re a fan of that, this mouse is even more tempting.

Which CORSAIR mouse is best?

There is no correct answer for this. It depends on the games you play, your budget, and most importantly, good old-fashioned personal preference. If there was one mouse design that was perfect for everyone, we’d just make that, but there isn’t. This is why we spend a lot of time developing and engineering new designs to make top tier gaming mice for as many people as we can.
