What to look for in a gaming monitor or display
When exploring gaming monitors for your space, consider a few of these parameters:
- Size: The size of your display should be a reflection on what your setup looks like—balancing field of view and the footprint of the monitor on your desk.
- Resolution and aspect ratio: Choose between 21:9 and 16:9, and resolutions as low as 1440 up to 4k.
- Refresh rate: 144 hz at minimum will work, but the higher the refresh rate, the more responsive your game will feel.
- Extra features and certifications: Filter by mount-style, HDR10 certification, and AMD/NVIDIA variable refresh rate technology.
Do you need a high refresh rate display?
While resolution plays a big part of a game’s visual fidelity, the frame rate your computer is capable of producing allows for the game to feel fast, responsive, and smooth. Of course, you’ll need a monitor that supports higher frame rates in order to get the most out of that snappy gaming experience.
