Historically, gaming mice have been designed for right-handed people. This is understandable given that 90% of the human population is right-handed. However, just because it’s understandable, doesn’t mean that it’s the right thing to do.
Even so-called ambidextrous gaming mice are symmetrical in shape, but almost always right-handed in functionality. If there are any additional buttons, they are always on the thumb side for right-handed people. This is particularly annoying as these buttons are vital, as they allow for quicker inputs than possible if these actions were bound to the keyboard. If they can’t be accessed, then what’s the point?
Well, for once, the lefties are lucky, as the CORSAIR M75 and M75 WIRELESS gaming mice are fully ambidextrous, as not only the shape, but the positioning of the buttons is fully symmetrical. However, it goes deeper than that.
We’ve included extra buttons in the box for the M75 WIRELESS and WIRED. This means that you can choose which buttons are flush with the mouse, and which are more prominent. You can do this for the right side, left side, or a combination of both. This means your thumb will have an easier time locating the buttons or ignoring them. Whatever the case may be.
Now, we know what you’re thinking. Will I accidentally trigger the buttons opposite the thumb side when I panic squeeze the mouse, leading to embarrassment in a critical moment?
No, you won’t. The buttons on the right side of the mouse are deactivated by default. Flipping the "Left Handed Mode" switch in iCUE will then disable the buttons on the left side of the mouse.
Only when you flip the “Enable All Side Buttons” switch in iCUE will all four buttons be active. Basically, regardless of your dominant hand, you can pick and choose which side buttons are active, allowing you to eliminate the possibility of pressing buttons by accident in the heat of the moment.
When we describe the M75 and M75 WIRELESS as “truly ambidextrous”, it’s not marketing fluff. we really do mean it.
The southpaws out there, this one’s for you.
