How to Add Radiators or a GPU Block to the XH405i Custom Cooling Kit

With our XH405i Custom Cooling Kit, you're granted the essential parts and tools (except for heat gun) needed to assemble a beautiful custom liquid cooled PC build. However, if you'd prefer to have a full custom cooled build that includes your GPU, you'll need to supplement your kit with a GPU block and potentially an extra radiator. We'll also have to account for these additions to your custom loop.

GPU Block

For the GPU block, you'll have to make sure you choose the appropriate water block that's compatible with your GPU model. Luckily, our Custom Cooling Configurator does the work for you and makes checking compatibility an absolute breeze. The XG7 will be able to provide the signature liquid cooled aesthetic look to it, whereas the XG3 features a hybrid cooling solution that is suitable if you prefer the aesthetic and are more budget-conscious.

Radiator Support

The XH405i's included XR5 radiator is plenty for cooling your CPU. However, if you are adding a GPU into the loop, it may be a worthy consideration of adding another radiator - especially if you are using a RTX 4080/4090. To properly account for this, you'll want to make sure your case is capable of supporting a second radiator and set of fans. For example, our 6500 Series cases are able to comfortably fit two 360mm radiators and sets of fans. The recommended radiator size varies on your GPU model, including the factor of whether or not you have plans to overclock. Just as an example - if you have a RTX 4090 and have plans to overclock it - a 360mm (or larger) radiator would be recommended.

Custom Cooling Loop

With the addition of more components to the custom cooling setup, you'll have to account for these when creating your loop. Starting from the XD5, you'll have the outlet port (remember, there is only one designated outlet on the XD5) route to the GPU. From the GPU, you'll then create a line to the CPU. From the CPU, the route will go to your radiator. The next line goes to your second radiator (if you opted for it) - then finishes back to your XD5.

Additional Parts

The XH405i already includes enough fittings in the scenario of adding a GPU block. However, if you add another radiator to the loop, you'll require at least one additional pack of hard line fittings and additional coolant. Additional hardline tubing may also be necessary.
