IMPORTANT NOTICE:

This Quick Start Guide is a general installation guide and does not cover specifics of various motherboard makes and models.

CORSAIR recommends you thoroughly leak-test your custom cooling system for at least 24 hours to ensure that the system is securely sealed and operating reliably. CORSAIR warranty does not cover any hardware damage resulting from poorly executed, improper and otherwise hasty assembly of your custom water-cooling system.

Disassembly of CORSAIR Hydro X Series products is highly discouraged due to the complex design of components. Such action may result in irreparable mechanical, electrical or chemical damage that may void the warranty.

For an exact and up-to-date product compatibility list, please refer to the CORSAIR website.

FINALIZING THE SETUP

  1. Install the two (2) appropriate CORSAIR XF G1/4 ̋ BSPP threaded-type fittings (not included) into the reservoir ports and tighten them by hand. Do not use any tools (i.e. pliers).
  2. It is mandatory to use the front-left port as the OUTLET port and any other bottom port as inlet. The recommended INLET (return) port is marked on the image below. Optionally, you can use the top G1/4 ̋ port with integrated tube as an INLET (return) line as well.

CONNECTING AND USING THE INTEGRATED SMART FEATURES

NOTE: iCUE version 5.8 or higher is required to control the smart features.

Please download the latest version of iCUE from www.corsair.com/downloads.

You must connect the iCUE LINK XD5 RGB ELITE LCD (A) to both the iCUE LINK System Hub (P) and an internal USB 2.0 header (T) on the motherboard in order for the pump and LCD screen to function correctly. The LCD screen is driven by the USB connection, while the pump, RGB lighting, and coolant temperature are driven by the connection to the iCUE LINK System Hub.

  1. Connect the included 90 degree iCUE LINK cable (M) from the iCUE LINK header on the pump housing to an iCUE LINK System Hub (P).
  2. Connect the 90 degree USB Type-C cable (N) from the USB-C port on the pump to a USB 2.0 motherboard internal header (T). The 5-pin USB header is designed to work on either channel of a motherboard USB 2.0 internal header.
XD5_LCD_iCUE_LINK_Connection

3. Connect the iCUE LINK XD5 RGB ELITE LCD USB 2.0 header cable (N) so that the red wire is aligned with the power pin in the USB 2.0 header on the motherboard.

NOTE: You can use either row of the motherboard's internal header to plug in the CPU water block leaving the other port open for future expansion if you have a second device that uses the motherboard's internal USB 2.0 header.

The XD5 RGB ELITE LCD pump/reservoir can be used with other iCUE LINK hardware by placing it anywhere on the channel string using a direct connection, Y cable accessory, or 4-way splitter.

FILLING AND PRIMING

1. PREPARE THE POWER SUPPLY UNIT

  1. Make sure the PSU is turned OFF, either at the plug socket, or via the toggle switch on the rear of the PSU (Figure 1).
  2. Disconnect PSU power cables from all computer components except the iCUE LINK System Hub 6-pin PCIe power connector.
  3. Connect the enclosed ATX 24-pin PSU Jumper Bridge starter (D) to your PSU 24-pin ATX cable. This will allow you to power on your iCUE LINK System Hub and all devices connected to the System Hub without powering on the PC (Figure 2).
XD5_Elite_PSU_Connector

2. PREPARE THE XD5 RGB ELITE LCD PUMP/RESERVOIR

Move the manual pump speed override switch on the side of the XD5 RGB ELITE LCD pump/reservoir to position 1. This will allow the pump to run at full power, allowing for easier priming and bleeding of air.

XD5_LCD_Priming_Switch_2to1

3. FILL AND PRIME THE XD5 RGB ELITE LCD

  1. Fill the reservoir through the top left G1/4" opening with CORSAIR coolant using a filling flask (S) to about 2cm (4/5" below the top).
  2. Turn on the power by flipping the ON switch on the PSU. The pump motor will be primed with coolant from the reservoir and will start flowing through the system. Turn the power OFF before the reservoir is emptied. Do not let the pump run dry or without coolant in the reservoir as this will damage the pump.
  3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 until your custom cooling system is full. CORSAIR recommends not to fill the reservoir more than about 2cm from the top.
XD5_LCD_Elite_Filling

4. Move the manual override pump speed switch back to position 2 on the pump housing once priming the loop is complete. You will not be able to control pump speed and it will run at priming speed if not set back to its original position.

XD5_LCD_Priming_Switch_1to2

5. Once the system is filled with coolant, CORSAIR recommends running it for 24 hours to remove any air trapped in the components and to make sure there are no leaks in the system. Once you have thoroughly leak-tested the system, turn OFF the PSU (Figure 1) and disconnect the ATX 24-pin PSU Jumper Bridge (Figure 2). Reconnect the power cables to other computer peripherals and start the computer.
