How to: Set up your COMMANDER CORE XT

Need help setting up your COMMANDER CORE XT controller? We have a guide and a video to help you out.

 

Setting up your controller

To set up your COMMANDER CORE XT:

  1. Install your COMMANDER CORE XT into your PC system.
  2. Connect the RGB fan lighting cables into the ports labeled RGB HUB.
  3. Connect your PWM fan cables into the ports labeled FANS.
  4. (Optional) If you want, connect the following cables:
    • Connect a 3-pin RGB device (e.g. lighting strips, fan lighting hubs, or Hydro X components) into the port labeled RGB.
    • Connect the included temperature probe into the port labeled TEMP 1 or TEMP 2. The probe itself can be placed anywhere inside or outside your system to monitor temperature.
    • To daisy chain a second internal USB device (e.g. a cooler), remove the cover of the daisy chain connector, connect to your second device, then connect the COMMANDER CORE XT to a motherboard USB 2.0 header.
  5. Finish by connecting the COMMANDER CORE XT to an available SATA power connector from your power supply unit.

 

 

Adjusting settings in iCUE

Once you have finished setting up your COMMANDER CORE XT, you can now open iCUE and select COMMANDER CORE XT on the home screen to configure controller settings.

Make sure you have updated iCUE to its latest version.

With iCUE, you can:

  • Configure 4-pin fan lighting using the setup wizard. You can choose to have the controller automatically detect fan type per port, or set up the fans manually.
  • Configure the lighting effects of the 3-pin device connected to the RGB port by selecting 3-Pin Lighting Effects. You can also run the setup wizard if you need help with setup.
  • Click Cooling to set preset or custom cooling settings, as well as rename fans or temperature probes.
  • Click Alerts to set up custom behavior when your PC system temperature reaches a certain number, such as having all fans go to 100% or having the PC initiate an emergency shutdown.
  • Add sensors to the iCUE home screen or Dashboard to help you keep track of fan performance and temperature at a glance by clicking the + button next to Sensors, clicking COMMANDER CORE XT, and then selecting the sensors you want displayed.
