When we originally released the 6500 Series cases, it turned out there was a slight incompatibility when using a reverse motherboard and an HDD simultaneously. This resulted in a conflict between the HDD closest to the motherboard tray and one of the motherboard cables.
We've modified the 6500 Series case for the installation of 3.5” & 2.5” drives to improve compatibility with motherboards that have reverse connector, such as the Asus BTF or MSI Project Zero models.
This new cage and its open design will also allow better heat dissipation from the drives. It started to ship with 6500 Series Cases in December 2024, but we'd be happy to provide the new drive cage to users that received the old one free of charge. Just reach out to our customer support.
This new support plate changes the way the HDDs and/or SDDs must be installed.
The 6500 Series still supports up to 2x 3.5” HDDs & 2x 2.5” SSDs simultaneously, so total drive capacity remains unaffected.
In order to install an SSD or HDD, the new drive cage must be removed from the case first.
To remove the drive cage from the case, unscrew the set screw at the back of the case, then tilt and lift the plate upwards.
If you need to install both 2.5" and 3.5" drives, you must install the 2.5" first, because once the 3.5" HDD are installed, you can no longer access the 2.5"mounting hole.
To install 2.5 drive, flip the drive cage over and simply screw the SSD(s) into the holes marked with "SSD".
To install an HDD, Screw the HDD in, using the holes marked "HDD". Once this is done, re-install the drive cage back into place.
