The CORSAIR M75 and M75 WIRELESS are our current best gaming mice for competitive FPS play. Using everything we learned from the stripped-back M75 AIR, we’ve arrived at a lightweight gaming mouse that’s still performance-focused, while retaining some features people might have missed from the M75 AIR.
For the M75 and M75 WIRELESS, we’ve managed to create a pair of gaming mice that are still feature-rich, without compromising the very specific performance goals of an FPS mouse. So, yes, the M75 is a tad lighter than the M75 WIRELESS, and it has a faster polling rate. Additionally, the wired version is only available in black, whereas the wireless version can be white or black. Those are the differences that could have an influence on which you buy.
However, one feature that remains identical regardless of whether you go wired or wireless is the true ambidextrous nature, so let’s talk about that, as it’s a quality seldom found in gaming mice.
Given that roughly 10% of the global population is left-handed, it comes as no surprise that they have been under-represented when it comes to gaming mice. The closest lefties can usually get is a mouse with a symmetrical shape, but the actual functionality is still almost always designed for right-handed folks.
The main example here is that almost every mouse has extra buttons on the left side, which is convenient and ergonomic, but only for right-handed people. Meaning that lefties must use their pinkie or ring finger to hit these buttons. Given that humans in the latest update have opposable thumbs, not opposable pinkie fingers, this is less-than-ideal for our southpaw pals.
The M75, however, does not have this issue, as the side button placement is bilaterally symmetrical, so you get these buttons on both sides. Finally giving the left-handed gamer thumb buttons they can actually reach. We didn’t stop there, though.
Included in the box are extra buttons that can be swapped out. And they're magnetic. This allows the user to make the buttons on their thumb side more prominent, and the ones on the other side flush with the surface of the mouse. In fact, we’ve included enough replacement buttons that one can choose to make all four buttons poke out, or blend in with the surface, or any combination of the two.
Basically, you can tune this mouse not only to work with your dominant hand, but also to emphasize more frequently pressed buttons. Those who bind melee to one of the side buttons will understand the value of this button poking out more, making it easy to find in the midst of a close-range panic stab competition.
Now that we’ve established that the M75 possesses the rare quality of being truly ambidextrous, we can move on to what makes it great for competitive gaming, particularly for FPS games like Valorant, CS2, The Finals, etc.
First and foremost, we have the weight. Generally speaking, FPS gamers play on a low DPI, as it allows for more precision. The drawback here being that the lower the DPI, the further the mouse must physically be moved for any given in-game movement. This is why being lightweight is so vital for FPS mice, as the lighter the mouse, the faster it can be moved.
Less than 100g/3.5oz is the sweet spot here. With the M75 WIRELESS weighing 89g/3.1oz and the M75 even lower at 74g/2.6oz. both versions of the M75 are exceptionally agile on the mouse pad.
As arguably vital as the weight is the shape. Those of you familiar with the M75 AIR will be right at home here because we’ve used the exact same physical dimensions for the M75 WIRELESS and WIRED. The simple and symmetrical shape is ideal here. Perfect for the more popular palm grip, but plenty comfortable for those that use other grip types.
