The CORSAIR Platform: 6 is our latest attempt to enter an entirely new product category. We wanted to not only make sure it was a solid well-built desk with plenty of customization options, but also that it is designed for the content creators that Elgato already speaks to. Let’s look at some of the ways that we accomplished this by taking a look the various mounting options we designed specifically for Elgato products. By mounting all your webcams, lights, and microphones, you can keep your battle station looking clean and ready to create at a moment’s notice.
The Platform: 6 is a normal desk you can use to mount equipment the traditional way. The large solid wood top can be used as a mounting point for any clamps and weighted bases. We’ve seen tons of creators make great high quality set ups with just those options already but if you’re getting this desk you probably want to take things up to the next level. With the Platform: 6 you might run into some trouble in certain places with the pegboard cable management tray in the back and any pegboard on the sides that may interfere with clamps. Luckly the desk provides alternatives to people who want to mount things in these locations.
Even with the base version of the Platform: 6, you’ll get the modular rail system and the dual arm mount. The specially made dual arm mount is threaded at the top, allowing you to screw in the included Elgato flex arm adapter, the ideal location for a Facecam Pro or webcam of your choice. To keep things looking good, you’ll find a threaded hole for the Elgato multi mount adapter in the corner supports. This makes a solid base for any Key Lights that are critical to making you look your best.
On the rail system is really where you can get creative. By using the 6 included silver T-nuts you can mount any Elgato product to any place on a rail. The T-nuts go into the rails and can be tightened to stop them from sliding. After screwing in a ball-mount system adaptor you gain access to the whole Elgato mounting ecosystem.
That already opens you up to a huge number of mounting options along the main rail, on the sides, and on the optional Elgato Multi Frame. Now you can dial in the exact placement and angle for all your lights, cameras, and microphones. The rails are made of a standardized aluminum t-channel crossbar, giving you access to a wide ecosystem of existing attachments and accessories while having the strength to hold clamps like for a mic arm LP.
We designed the Platform: 6 to be customized so make it your own. The rails will allow you to mount anything that needs to be rock solid and the peg boards gives you a canvas to display all your tools in a stylish and practical way.
