Will my 12VHPWR cable work with 12V-2x6?

Modern Nvidia graphics cards, like the NVIDIA 40-series, use either the 12VHPWR or the 12V-2x6 connector. But what about the cable you already have, will it work with either?

Let's cut to the chase. There is no difference between a 12VHPWR and a 12V-2x6 cable. The changes in revising the 12VHPWR connector and renaming it to 12V-2x6 were only made to the connectors on the graphics card side. Power supplies should also use the 12V-2x6 connector if available directly on a modular power supply. This is the case with the CORSAIR RMx series, for example.

All you have to do is plug the cable into your graphics card and then into your power supply and you are ready to go. Of course, you need to be aware of the power consumption of the video card, and make sure that both the cable and the power supply are capable of delivering the minimum power required through the cable. For a 4090 card, this would mean using a 600W cable along with a power supply that can provide enough power for your system.
