The CORSAIR Platform:6 is our new desk ecosystem. It’s available in three different versions that you can read about in our main CORSAIR Platform:6 article. Regardless of which version you get, there are accessories you can purchase separately to increase the utility of the desk.
The one we’re talking about here is the Desk Extensions and Side Peg Boards Kit. This kit comes with 2x desk extensions, and 2x side pegboards. Meaning you can use any combination of these to customize your desk. So, if you find the side pegboards particularly useful, you can simply have two of those.-
But it’s the desk extensions that we’re concentrating on right now. Each extension measures 30cm x 76cm (11.8" x 30".) So, they’re the same depth as the desk, and add an additional 30cm (11.8”) of length to the Platform:6. That extra length is important here as it’s designed to hold your PC.
As you can see, adding one or both desk extensions makes a lot of difference, which is handy, a it’s been a well-established fact for years that putting a PC on the floor under the desk is a bad idea. The dusty nature of the floor will clog up the airflow over time, and the PC will inevitably accidentally get kicked from time to time. The CORSAIR Platform:6 desk extension allows you to move the PC back where it belongs, without having to sacrifice valuable desk area.
The desk extension can support up to a whopping 25kg (55.1lbs.) This might seem like overkill, but plenty of enthusiast builders are capable of making some serious custom PCs. We’re talking full tower cases, custom watercooling loops, multiple reservoirs and radiators, all that.
So, as long as your gaming PC weighs no more that 25kg (55.1lbs) and the length of the case is less than 76cm (30”) and the width is less than 30cm (11.8”) then it will sit securely on the CORSAIR Platform:6 desk extension. Both the wood and black surface options are the same size and can hold the same weight.
Note that the black extension, like the black desk, is 0.5cm (0.2") thinner than the wood alternative. So if you mix and match for a two-tone vibe, they will work, but won't sit flush together.
For some context this means the desk extension can hold the CORSAIR 3000D, 4000D, 5000D, 5000T, and 7000X cases with room to spare. In fact, the only CORSAIR case it can’t hold is the dual system 1000D behemoth, and even that's only slightly too wide and long.
So, if you’re considering the purchase of the CORSAIR Platform:6 or have already bought one, and fancy a neat place to put your PC, or simply more desk space, head over to the main CORSAIR website. Here you can find all variants of the desk, and all the accessories, including the desk extension kit.
