The CORSAIR MP600 MICRO provides great storage performance in a compact package, making it ideal for systems that utilize the M.2 2242 form factor. Systems like the Lenovo Legion Go.
Before you install your new SSD, make sure that you’ve completely powered off the system and removed any microSD cards you may have installed.
Remove both controllers from the Legion Go, lay the system face down on a soft surface, and proceed to carefully remove the six small screws holding the back panel.
Use a plastic prying tool to remove the backplate, starting at the notch under the system’s kickstand. Work the prying tool around the edges to release all the internal plastic clips holding the backplate.
Once the backplate has been released from the system, set it aside. Then lift the sticker holding the battery connector in place and gently remove the connector from the socket.
The M.2 SSD socket is located on the right, just underneath a protective sticker. Peel this sticker back and carefully remove the screw securing the original SSD in place.
You’ll want to be extra careful here in order to avoid stripping the M.2 screw.
Once you’ve removed the original SSD, carefully unwrap the shielding and set it aside, we’ll want to re-use this for our MP600 MICRO.
We can either clone the original SSD to the MP600 MICRO using a USB M.2 adapter and cloning software or create bootable restore media with a spare USB drive and a recovery image downloaded directly from Lenovo.
Once you’ve either cloned the original SSD or prepared restoration media, wrap the MP600 MICRO with the shielding and install it into the M.2 2242 socket, secure it in place with the screw, be careful not to overtighten or else you may strip the screw.
Reconnect the battery cable, replace any stickers that were peeled up during disassembly, and resecure the back cover back onto the Legion Go.
We can now re-attach the controllers and boot up the system.
If you’ve cloned the drive, it should boot right back up to Windows. If you opted to create restoration media, follow the steps from Lenovo to install the operating system onto the SSD.
If you created restoration media, you may need to install further updates to the Legion Go before installing your favorite apps and games.
