The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 is a high performance graphics card that requires adequate power in order to render extremely detailed graphics for today's games. The technology that allows for such fidelity requires a sufficient power supply, and of course the power supply must have enough capacity to cover the requirements of everything else in your PC, too. before we get into all of that, there are some things to make sure you're covered in terms of the bare minimums.
RTX 4080 SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
Of course, when we say RTX 4080, we're actually referring to a broad variety of products all derived from the same standard from our boys at NVIDIA. This means that the specific RTX 4080 you buy can differ considerably from other models. So, here's a non-exhaustive list of some of the most popular RTX 4080 models showing their TDP (Thermal Design Power) and the minimum recommended PSU (As recommended by the manufacturer).

Interestingly, the TDP and recommended power supply doesn't seem to vary like it did when we found the best PSU for the RTX 4090. We're not sure why that's this is, but it does mean make finding the best PSU for RTX 4080 a lot easier. However, as we said this is not an exhaustive list, so double the check your particular 4080 just in case.
For more traditionally-sized builds in cases like the 4000D or 5000D, a modular power supply with at least 750W such as the RM750x SHIFT will provide the appropriate power needed for the RTX 4080. However, as suggested with our recommendation for small form factor builds, a higher wattage power supply with 850W, 1000W, or higher is recommended if the card will be paired with a high-end processor such as a Ryzen 9 or Intel Core i9, additional considerations may also need to be made if the build is to be equipped with multiple RGB fans and other accessories.
Yes, you can be safe knowing that as long as it's got 750W of power capacity, it'll be good for an RTX 4080, however, it's always nice to know more just in case, so here's the power table and cable configuration for the CORSAIR RM750x SHIFT.

For those who like smaller cases like the CORSAIR 2000D, we're of course including the SF850L here. Yes, it's slightly overpowered for the needs of the RTX 4080, but it's better to have too much power instead of too little.
It's worth noting here that the SF850L does not feature the side-mounted connectors of the RMx SHIFT PSUs. That being said, it doesn't matter much as small form-factor cases don't allow for such features anyway. Let's look at the specs for this one.

The way it keeps the noise so low, by the way, is via the 120mm rifle bearing fan with a specially calculated fan curve. Additionally, it has a zero-RPM mode, so when you're not doing anything too intensive the fan turns off entirely for a truly silent PSU.

How long is the warranty on a CORSAIR PSU?

Are there still issues with the 12VHPWR connector?
Following the release of the 12VHPWR standard, there were some incidences of the connector melting, due to it not being fully-seated when connected. This is avoidable, just make sure the cable is fully connected at both ends, and avoid bending the connector during the cable management process. What do the "80 Plus" and "Cybenetics" symbols mean?
80 PLUS and Cybenetics are the two most common PSU efficiency ratings. Basically the better the rating, the more efficient the power supply. We've written an article explaining these two standards that you can read for more detail.
Are all PSU cables compatible with all PSUs?
