What CORSAIR cases support 30mm fans?

With the release of the CORSAIR RS MAX performance fans, CORSAIR is able to offer fans with a thickness of 30 mm, i.e. 5 mm/20% thicker than normal PC fans.

However, this gain in performance implies some additional checks on the compatibility of your other components including your case, to reassure you, all recent CORSAIR cases support these fans except the one fan in the 2000D which is limited to 15mm thickness, we still advise AF SLIM For that specific case.

For CORSAIR components, our PC Builder offers an inter-compatibility check including the majority of motherboards and graphics cards on the market. As nobody wants to be stuck by a few millimetres when assembling, we recommend you use it to check before you buy.

For all components that are not already included in the PC Builder, we recommend that you pay particular attention to the following points:

  • Mounting on the front of the case:

This will inevitably reduce the space available for installing a graphics card. In most cases, the maximum size of the graphics card is given, so you'll need to subtract 5mm from this measurement, as the information is based on 25mm fans by default.

This is the same as if you wanted to install a water-cooling radiator on the front panel, where you subtract the thickness of the radiator from the maximum specified length of the graphics card.

  • Mounting on top of the case:

If you just want to mount the fan on the top of your case, you shouldn't run into any problems, except maybe in certain compact cases where the cable routing will be reduced.

When installing a 30mm fan in addition to a water-cooling radiator, whether it's an all-in-one or custom radiator, you need to make sure that it doesn't interfere with the installation of your memory modules, or cut off the access to cables that plug in to the top of the motherboard. In many cases, especially with older cases or 280mm coolers, the maximum module height will be affected.
