How-to: Stream Deck + AI DeskAssistant

If you’ve kept up with the latest tech news, you've probably seen artificial intelligence (AI) making news headlines. AI has swiftly made an impact on our newsfeeds thanks to becoming an integral part of modern lives, transforming the way we live, work, and interact with technology. From voice assistants to personalized recommendations, AI has permeated various aspects of our everyday routines, offering convenience, efficiency, and new possibilities. One popular avenue to access AI’s benefits is ChatGPT.

With Elgato’s Stream Deck software and the AI DeckAssistant plugin, utilizing ChatGPT just got even easier as you’ll have the ability to harness AI at your fingertips. The following products are compatible:

After verifying you have a compatible Stream Deck product, follow the instructions below to get started

1. If you haven’t already, download and install Elgato’s Stream Deck software.
2. At the top right of the Stream Deck software home screen, you’ll find the Store button where you’ll be able to download a wide array of plugins, icons, music, and sound effects.

3. Search for and then install “AI DeckAssistant”

4. Return to the Stream Deck software’s home screen and assign the AI DeckAssistant to your Stream Deck device. There are two functions you can assign to buttons and for both you’ll require an API Token which you may find at https://deckassistant.io/dashboard after creating an account.

The “Prompting” function has a plethora of example prompts for you to choose from the provided drop-down menu that’ll ease everyday tasks, whether you want more understanding of a certain phrase or want AI to proofread your coding. Some provided example prompts:

• General: summarize this text
• Coding: find potential vulnerabilities in this code
• Writing: correct spelling and grammar of this text

You can also create custom prompts for limitless possibilities of harnessing AI at your fingertips!
