What is Firmware?
Firmware is program code embedded directly into a piece of hardware to make the hardware work as intended. It holds the instructions that the device needs to communicate with other hardware.
Firmware updates on PC components, such as motherboards, SSDs, AIO liquid CPU coolers, etc., are beneficial, as it increases the hardware’s stability and can address issues that affect the hardware. Also, firmware updates are used to optimize hardware performance, potentially enhancing the overall performance of other components in your system.
PC monitors are no different. If your monitor is not running at advertised specs, it’s best to update its firmware. For example, if you have a CORSAIR XENEON gaming monitor and want to optimize its performance, you can download the latest version of iCUE and update the firmware through the software.

Updating XENEON Gaming Monitor Firmware
Before updating your XENEON monitor firmware, please be sure that you are connected to the internet and that the monitor is plugged directly into your PC using a USB Type-C cable for the most stable data connection. Intermediary USB devices such as hubs or docks may not provide a stable data connection.
On the iCUE home page, your XENEON Gaming Monitor should populate one of the device slots. In this guide, we are updating the CORSAIR XENEON 32QHD165 model.
If you have the latest firmware, only one firmware version will appear.
And that’s it! Your CORSAIR XENEON gaming monitor has the latest firmware version installed.
