Below you'll find the benchmark results and videos for each of the games that Digital Foundry produced to see the impact memory has on performance. From Cyberpunk 2077 through to Gotham Knights, serious increases can be seen from upgrading your DRAM, with a speedy DDR5 kit providing the best possible experience in every single title.
The numbers below were derived from a system running an Intel Core i9 13900K and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 running at the highest settings with Ray Tracing turned on where applicable and DLSS Performance settings for the smoothest possible experience. If you're running a more modestly priced GPU then you may see even greater improvements, depending on the overall makeup of your system.
When looking at the graphs, you'll notice there are two different measurements for each memory kit—the average frame rate and the 1% minimum frame rate. The two numbers together indicate how smooth the gaming experience will be—ideally there shouldn't be too big a difference between the two. In both cases though, the higher the better.

The biggest performance improvements can be seen in Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, where you'll see as much as a 70% improvement going from 8GB (2x 4GB) of DDR4-2666 to 64GB of DDR5-6600. Even if you're packing a serious set of DDR4 memory, there are still important improvements to be had from upgrading to the latest memory technology.
Move over DDR4, your time is up.
