There is something cool about having an LCD screen on top of your all-in-one (AIO) CPU cooler. The likes of the iCUE LINK H150i LCD Liquid CPU Cooler can do the hard work of keeping your processor brilliantly chilled, while also displaying a funny gif to keep a smile on your face as your computer does it’s thing. Or you know, you can trap a picture of your dad in your machine for all of time.
Not only do these LCDs make for a sumptuous focus for any build that has a side window, but they can also be used to display some important system metrics, such as the temperatures, processor loads, and fan speeds. Not just errant memes or trapped dads, amazingly.
But what if you want to do both things: Display an hilarious short looping video inside your machine and temperatures at the same time? Well, the good news is that you can set your LCD screen to combine the two, and it’s easy to do as well. As of right now, (as long as iCUE is up to date), you can use the new Constructor option to make the screen your own. Here's how.
Jump into iCUE Software click and select your LCD-equipped cooler from the main page to be taken to the relevant section. Click on the Screen Setup entry on the left-hand side of the screen to be taken the relevant section. In the bottom left-hand corner, you’ll see plenty of presets to get you started, but under these is an option called Constructor. Click that.
Pick your custom image or GIF (or select one from Giphy) and zoom and center it until you are happy. You can also rotate the GIF if you’re feeling zesty.
Next pick which sensor, or indeed sensors, you wish to display. You can change what the label says for the sensor in question – for instance, you may want to just label it CPU instead of CPU Package. Or you can delete what’s in the box completely to hide the label.
You can also select whether the label appears above or below the value. Set the colors so that they work with the image/GIF you’re displaying the sensor values on top of, and you’re done.
You can also select up to three different sensors should you wish, or if you’d prefer, you can simply show the time.
