FRAME 4000D Build Log by HarmlessPotato

HarmlessPotato had a go at building in the FRAME 4000D, and they came out with a really tidy build. Everything after this is in their own words.

INTRODUCTION

When asked to complete a build in the new FRAME 4000D, I was eager to see the changes made with the new 4000D. The 4000 Series cases have a special place in my heart, as my first personal build was in a 4000X. I loved that case; it was compact yet still able to fit a 3090 Founders Edition at the time. Anyway, let’s get to my build!

Case Overview

This case is completely reimagined from the original 4000D. It features much-liked changes from its predecessor, including Infini-Rail, rear-side-mounted fan support, bottom-mounted I/O, LINK Hub cutouts, PSU thumbscrews, ASUS BTF/MSI Project Zero support, and more.

The side features a tempered glass side panel with a mesh panel underneath.

InfiniRail is back with the FRAME 4000D. Instead of pre-drilled fan mounting holes, the top works with a bracket that slides between two positions: 120mm and 140/160mm. This allows you to secure your fans with ease. You just slide the bracket to whatever size your fans are and mount them infinitely across it. You are not constrained to pre-determined mounting positions, which makes it wonderful if you want to center a radiator perfectly.

The bracket features easy to read markings on the frame of the case with a yellow indicator on the bracket to easily see what position you are setting it at.

The front InfiniRail system works slightly differently. With 120mm fans, you clip the fan mounts onto the rail, and then you can slide them anywhere along the track. Again, this makes it simple if you want to center a radiator or if you are using only 2 front fans. The front can accommodate 3 120mm, 2 140mm, or 2 200mm fans.

Bottom-mounted I/O is a great change. As most people love to showcase their builds on their desks, it just makes sense to have the I/O on the bottom. It makes it easier to plug in your Slipstream dongles, a phone charger, or whatever you want to plug in. The front also features the new Y-Pattern design language on the front panel, with up to 12.7% better airflow.

The rear features a reversible PCIe bracket to either mount your GPU horizontally or vertically. This was first introduced with the 3500X, then the 9000D Airflow, and now the FRAME 4000D. I am happy that this was added to this case. There is no need to purchase an additional vertical mount like with the 2500 and 6500 Series cases.

Something I never knew I wanted was PSU thumbscrews; how convenient! All you have to do is slide your PSU in and tighten it down by hand. No more fiddling with screws for your PSU.

The backside features excellent cable management. Numerous cable tie-down points, including Velcro straps and ample room, make it easy to manage your cables. There is also a cutout for the iCUE LINK System Hub in the rear. There is also a second cutout on the bottom of the case if you need to utilize two iCUE LINK Hubs

Included Accessories

Safety warranty guide, screws, zip ties, Infini-Rail clips, GPU anti-sag bracket, front I/O adapter, side fan mounting bracket, and two side panel inserts (black and translucent).

First seen in the 9000D Airflow was this GPU peg meant to help alleviate GPU sagging, it returns again in the FRAME 4000D. Out of the box it is installed on the rear shroud, but if you are using the side fan mount, you can install it on this bracket next to your motherboard. The peg slides up an down a slider to help support any GPU thickness. The bracket is raised to allow you to run cables behind it, so it shouldn’t cause an issue for most motherboards.

SUMMARY

My experience with this case was wonderful! It is compact yet still able to fit so much within it. The changes made are nice touches. With its all-new design language, InfiniRail, additional fan support, built-in GPU anti-sag bracket, excellent cable management, and case customization, it is a massive step up in features compared to the 4000D Airflow.
