In addition to the 4070 and 4070 Ti, NVIDIA has also given the RTX 4080 the Super treatment. So, we’re going to find the best PSU for the RTX 4080 Super for those interested in making the upgrade.
Getting a sufficient power supply for your GPU is vital. More specifically, you must make sure that it can handle your GPU alongside everything else in the system. Of course, you could just add up all the individual components and get a PSU that can accommodate that.
Though NVIDIA themselves recommend a 750W PSU, we prefer to get a power supply that has some additional overhead. This allows you to add things later on without having to necessarily upgrade the PSU, and even if your system stays identical, it allows any possible transient power spikes to happen with far less likelihood of messing stuff up.
Now, the RTX 4080 Super has a recommended PSU of 750W, however, given that it’s one of the top GPUs currently available, it’s wise to assume that the rest of the system will be high-end, too.
For this reason, we’re going to recommend the CORSAIR RM850x SHIFT. It’s got more than enough power for the RTX 4080 Super, and some features that really do make a difference.
As with the other PSUs in the SHIFT lineup, we’ve moved the modular cable ports from the end opposite the power switch to the side. This makes the cable runs to the motherboard GPU and other components more direct and frees up space adjacent to the PSU. This is especially handy for those who still use hard drives as the mounts for these are often right behind the PSU.

Understandably, there who are not keen their PC being a gigantic monolith that takes up 1/3rd of their desk.
For these people, the answer is often a small form-factor case. Sure, the building experience will be more fiddly, and you wont be able to run a stack of 3 HDDs, but you’ll save a lot of space.
However, small cases like the 2000D will often require an SFX PSU, as the shorter length compared to a standard ATX power supply. Luckily, the CORSAIR SF850L is perfect for a small build.

If you’re bored of your PC sounding like a space shuttle when you’re gaming, one of the ways you can reduce this cacophony is to buy an especially quiet PSU.
Our RMe line of PSUs are the top choice here. For the RTX 4080 Super specifically, we’re recommending the CORSAIR RM850e. Not only is it quiet, but the Zero RPM fan mode means that unless you’re using a lot of power, the fan won’t even begin to spin.
Additionally, it’s fully modular so you can avoid cramming unused cables away, and it’s 80 PLUS Gold certified, so your electricity bill won’t bankrupt you. It’s a win-win-win. Nice.

If the RTX 4080 Super is the last upgrade you’re going to make for a long time, and you’ve ensured that the rest of your components put together won’t exceed 750W, then there’s nothing wrong with being thrifty when picking a PSU.
