How to change the color of a CORSAIR keyboard

If you want to customise your CORSAIR keyboard with RGB lighting, you will need our iCUE software and this guide will show you how to set up different RGB effects.

LIGHTING EFFECTS VS. HARDWARE LIGHTING

In this guide we will focus on lighting effects where iCUE is always active in the background. Once you have completed this guide, you can move on to hardware lighting. Hardware Lighting is a feature to customize your devices for whenever iCUE is not running or when you use your CORSAIR device on a computer without iCUE.

WHY DOES MY LIGHTING RESET TO DEFAULT WHEN I START MY PC/WHEN iCUE IS CLOSED?

Hardware Lighting will always take control when iCUE is not active. When you turn on your PC, iCUE is not running and automatically switches to the Hardware Lighting profiles that have been saved. This means that if you have set your keyboard to the RGB effect "Static Colour" with a green colour in iCUE, it will not appear when you start the PC, but another RGB effect such as "Water Color" will be shown.

  • Copy - creates an exact copy of the selected RGB effect
  • Save to Libery - saves the selected RGB effect so that it can be used again at any time (also for other CORSAIR products)
  • Rename - rename the selected RGB effect as you want it
  • Delete - allows you to delete the selected RGB effect

As we want to create a different RGB effect, we delete the existing one. It is also possible to save this effect in Libery and use it later.

  • Click on the large yellow "+" (create a new Lighting Layer) button to select a lighting type.
  • Depending on the CORSAIR keyboard, you have a choice of RGB effects.
  • In this case, we will use the RGB "Color Shift" effect.

You can also select which keys you want to apply the effect to. It is possible to select each individual key or groups of keys. To do this, use the model in view and select the keys you want (hold down CTRL and select the keys with the mouse). This allows you to create additional 'Lighting Layers' and select a different RGB effect for the remaining keys, or just for certain ones.

Once you have selected your individual RGB setup for your keyboard, you can simply close iCUE and it will work in the background to deliver your preferred settings.

When you exit iCUE or restart your computer, you will notice that the RGB effect you have set up is no longer available. But don't panic! As soon as you restart iCUE, your settings will be reloaded.

If you now wish to change the RGB lighting in "Hardware Lighting" mode, please follow these steps.
