What is the difference between CORSAIR Type 4 and Type 5 cables?

RMxShift2_import

With the launch of the CORSAIR RMx Shift Power Supply range, CORSAIR has changed the cables on some of its power supplies from Type 4 to Type 5.

Unlike the Type 3 to Type 4 transition, where some Type 3 cables worked with Type 4 power supplies, Type 5 cables are not compatible with Type 3 or Type 4 power supplies.

The reason for this is that Type 5 cables use a new micro fit connector which is physically smaller than Type 4. While the connector is smaller than the previous Type 4 connectors there are no limitations in regards to power—Type 5 will be able to supply the same levels of power as previous generation power supplies.

There is no difference when it comes to PC component connectors, such as motherboard connectors, graphics cards cables—the difference only affects the end that goes into the PSU.
