Will a CORSAIR RMx SHIFT PSU fit in my case?

Considering you're looking at this article, there's a good chance you're familiar with our RMx SHIFT PSUs and their cable connections on the side. While this sounds minor, this is hugely convenient for the PC building process, as you no longer have to deal with a cramped space when inserting connectors into the PSU. If you ever upgrade your components such as GPU and need to swap or add another cable, then this makes the upgrade process way smoother.

RMx SHIFT Case Compatibility

To verify that your case is compatible with an RMx SHIFT PSU, follow these steps:

  1. Verify the case supports ATX PSU. If the case in mind is ATX/mid-tower, then there is a good chance it does.
  2. Look at images that show where the PSU would be mounted. Verify the PSU is accessible from the side.
  3. Check the case's specifications for its dimensions to verify it is at least 8.3"/210mm wide.
  4. Check the case's specifications for its maximum PSU length support. RM1200x/1000x SHIFT - 7"/180mm length, RM850x/750x SHIFT - 6.3"/160mm length

Compatible Third-Party Case Examples

We'll use the Fractal Design North as an example.

Based on its specifications, we can see that it is 8.46"/~215mm wide. With just ~5mm to work with, it will be a tight fit but does meet our requirement.

Next, you'll want to check the case's images. We can see that the PSU would be accessible from the side, where the RMx SHIFT's cables will protrude.

As you can see - some simple checks will verify the RMx SHIFT's case compatibility. Simply check your case's specs and PSU accessibility. Another example we'll provide is the RMx SHIFT in the Phanteks Eclipse P400A, which is also 210mm wide and has side accessibility to the PSU.
