XTM70 vs XTM60 vs XTM50: Differences explained

Your PC tool bag should contain screwdrivers, zip ties, spare screws, and a tube of thermal paste. If the thermal paste is something you got with your cooler, for example, it may have come in a small bag that could not be resealed to preserve its quality. A resealable tube container should last much longer to preserve the quality of the paste, and last for multiple applications.

Why there is a need for thermal paste in the first place?

If you look at heat spreaders on CPUs or the cold plates on AIOs or Air Coolers, you'll see microscopic gaps that reduce the heatsink's cooling capabilities. Therefore, it is important to use a thermally conductive material, such as thermal paste, to fill these gaps to ensure that heat is transferred efficiently.

CORSAIR XTM50

XTM50_07

XTM50 is made from premium zinc oxide and comes with an applicator stencil and cleaning wipes. It can be used for long term builds and doesn't require frequent replacement as it won't dry out or crack. It comes in a 5 gram syringe that lasts for multiple applications. The stencil allows you to apply XTM50 in an even surface directly to the cold plate surface of the heatsink.

XTM50 is non-electrically conductive, so it will not short circuit or damage components. It does not dry out or crack easily and maintains thermal conductivity for a long time after initial application.

CORSAIR XTM60

XTM60 is our newest thermal paste and includes an applicator card. It has an improved formula and is ideal for all builds and 3 grams will last you for several applications. XTM60 comes with an applicator card to spread the paste evenly over the processor surface.

The thermal paste is non-electrically conductive and non-corrosive, so it will not short out or damage components. It does not dry out or crack easily and maintains thermal conductivity for a long time after initial application.

CORSAIR XTM70

XTM70 is the best performing thermal paste in our line-up and is ideal for processors that have a TDP of 250W and even higher. It can operate between -40°C to 150°C and has low viscosity that spreads evenly on the heatspreader of the processor.

XTM70 is a complete kit that consists of 3 grams of thermal paste in a syringe, three cleaning wipes to remove the old thermal paste, two stencils to apply the thermal paste directly on the coldplate of the cooler, and an applicator card to spread the paste on an even surface.

Which CORSAIR XTM thermal paste should you buy?

All our thermal pastes are great for cooling your CPU or GPU. Depending on your needs you can either use the XTM50 which is a great allround paste. If you are looking for better performance of up to 5°C, choose our XTM60 paste. If you are looking for the best performing paste in our lineup, you should choose the XTM70. Compared to the XTM50, it can perform up to 7°C better under ideal conditions and is also great for overclocking.
