What's the difference between SFX and SFX-L Power Supplies?

PSU Comparison_import

For small form-factor PC builds, choosing the correct size of your PC components can be challenging since the space inside your case can be limited. Sometimes very limited. And one of those components will be your power supply.

There are a total of four PSU form-factors: ATX, TFX, SFX, and SFX-L. SFX and SFX-L are the most compact forms of power supply and they're ideal for small form-factor cases. So, what’s the difference between SFX and SFX-L? The short answer is SFX-L PSUs are slightly longer in length than SFX PSUs. 30mm longer.

Both SFX and SFX-L PSUs are designed to save space, so if you’re planning to put together a system in smaller case, these two PSU form-factors are going to be your best options.

It’s also worth noting that CORSAIR SFX PSUs use Type 4 cables, while our SFX-L PSUs use Type 5 Gen 1 micro-fit PSU cables. Find out more about Type 5 Gen 1 micro-fit cables here.
