How to: Set up Corsair RGB RAM in iCUE 4 or newer

Orientating your RAM in iCUE

If you need to adjust your RAM in iCUE to match your motherboard layout, you can use the DIMM Setup tab to orientate your RAM.

After clicking DIMM Setup in the left menu, you can click the rotation icons on the preview to orientate your RAM. If you need to reorder your RAM, drag and drop the RAM in the preview into the desired spot.

Customizing lighting effects

To customize lighting effects:

  1. Click Lighting Effects in the left menu.
  2. Click the + button in Lighting Layers.
  3. Select your desired lighting effect in Lighting Type.
    1. NOTE: If you select a lighting link effect, that effect will be applied to all iCUE-compatible devices currently connected to your PC system.
  4. Customize your lighting effect however you see fit; different lighting effects will have different settings you can play with.
  5. Select the lighting zones you want to apply the lighting effect to; you can select lighting zones by:
    1. Clicking and dragging to select lighting zones in the preview.
    2. Hold the CTRL key and click to select individual lighting zones.

You can also create multiple lighting layers to further customize the lighting of your RGB RAM. If you have multiple lighting layers, you can apply different lighting layers to different lighting zones.

If you want to change the order the lighting effects play, you can reorder the lighting layers in the Lighting Layers section by dragging and dropping them into your desired order.

Setting hardware lighting effects

If iCUE is not running, your RGB RAM will be in "hardware mode." When in hardware mode, your RGB RAM can still display a lighting effect that you have saved to its onboard memory.

To set up a lighting effect in hardware mode:

  1. Click Hardware Lightings in the left menu.
  2. Click the + button in Lighting Layers.
  3. Select your desired lighting effect in Lighting Type.
  4. Customize the lighting effect however you see fit; different lighting effects will have different settings you can play with.
  5. Select the lighting zones you want to apply the lighting effect to; you can select lighting zones by:
    1. Clicking and dragging to select lighting zones in the preview.
    2. Hold the CTRL key and click to select individual lighting zones.

If you want your RGB RAM to show no color when iCUE is not running:

  1. Click Hardware Lightings in the left menu.
  2. Click the + button in Lighting Layers.
  3. Select the Static Color lighting effect in Lighting Type.
  4. Set the RGB value to 0.
    1. NOTE: You may need to wait a few seconds as the lighting effect is applied to every one of your memory modules.

Monitoring and logging cooling temperatures

Click Cooling in the left menu to see a temperature readout for all of your RAM modules. You can click on an individual readout to see a temperature graph that updates in real time.

You can change the update interval by clicking the Interval dropdown menu on the bottom left and selecting your desired interval time.

To enable the logging of your RAM temperatures, enable the Logging toggle on the bottom right.

Changing device settings

The Device Settings tab lets you update the firmware of your RGB RAM modules and adjust the RGB brightness.

Click Check for Updates to see if there is a new firmware update available for your RAM modules.
