Best Rapid Trigger Settings for Apex Legends

Today, we’re going to take a look at the best Rapid Trigger settings for Apex Legends. This will allow you to become more competitive, so if you’re tired of being turned on and melted by a sweaty TTV Wraith, this is the page for you. Everything in this guide is applicable to any CORSAIR keyboard with MGX switches. We're going to be using the K70 MAX is our example today.

Rapid Trigger is a feature available via the CORSAIR MGX switches that allows you far more control over your inputs than a traditional gaming keyboard. In short, you can set each individual key’s actuation point to your chosen depth. So, for quick actions, the keys can actuate earlier in the keystroke, and for more deliberate ones, you can make the keys require a deeper press before they actuate. Additionally, you can make the keys reset without having to return all the way back to its starting position again. Let’s take a look at the best actuation settings for Apex Legends.

Best Rapid Trigger actuation settings for Apex Legends

At the bottom of this page we’re going to provide a link to download this exact profile for iCUE. Additionally, we recommend setting the profile to only become active when you’re playing Apex Legends.

Otherwise the different actuations could mess things up for other applications. You’ll need to set this bit up yourself as the location of the Apex Legends install will vary from user to user. Additionally, feel free to use this article as a guide to create your own actuations. Aside from W, A, S, D, and Space, chances are that your specific binds will differ.

Movement

As with any competitive FPS, movement technique is crucial. You can be the best shot in the world, but if you can’t combine that with movement, it’s all for nothing.

So, we’re going to set W, A, S, D, C, L-SHIFT, L-CTRL, and SPACE all to the minimum actuation distance of 0.4mm. Additionally, the sensitivity value, i.e. how far the key needs to travel back up before you can actuate it again, will be 0.1mm.

These settings mean that you can control every aspect of your Legend’s movement far more quickly than a standard keyboard. Only having to press these keys in 0.4 mm for them to actuate means that you can change direction and strafe in and out of cover far more quickly.

Additionally, with these keys set to be so sensitive, the more advanced movement techniques such as Tap Strafing, Lurch Strafing, and the more difficult Super Glide will become way easier to master. These techniques require really specific timings between the inputs to get them right, very sensitive keys will give you a bit more room for error.

Healing/Items

Unless you’re a MMO mouse-enjoyer (Shout out the SCIMITAR ELITE WIRELESS), who has a lot of actions bound to the mouse buttons, chances are that your healing items are on the keyboard. Our example has the Syringe, Med Kit, Shield Cell, Shield Battery, Phoenix Kit, and Ultimate Accelerant bound along the number row occupying 1 to 6, respectively.

The idea here is that these items need to be very quick to access, hence the location above WASD. However, this ease of access might result in an accidental press in the heat of the moment. Desperately trying to manoeuvre while being shot at only to start stoically using a health pack while maintaining unbroken eye contact with the opposing Revenant while they murder you is a feeling we’re all familiar with.

So, to minimize the risk of that annoying, yet amusing mistake, we need to make these items require a more definite intention to activate. So, for keys 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6, we’re going to set the actuation point to its furthest depth. This means that the keys have to be pressed almost all the way down before they actuate. The sensitivity value will be set to 0.3mm, as we don’t need pixel perfect inputs for any techniques, but being able to quickly hit the key again after a panicked cancel will be handy.

We’re also going to add Tactical and Ultimate abilities (and reload) to this same level of actuation, as these can really mess you up if accidentally pressed. For this downloadable profile, Q and Z are our abilities, while R is for reloading. Obviously. We’re going to leave E as the default Interact/Pickup key as accidentally hitting it won’t ruin a play, and because it’s contextual, we don’t need to make sure we definitely want to hit it.

Ok folks, now we’ve made an effective set of custom actuations that will help you stay in control, even when faced by a Pathfinder zipping circles around you. If your keybinds happen to match those in the article, you can simply download the profile and you’re done. If not, use this page as inspiration to craft your own bespoke actuations. Have at it, Legend.

How to import a Rapid Trigger iCUE profile

If this profile, or any other you happen to find takes your fancy, here’s how to import an iCUE profile just for actuations. We can’t guarantee the same for other profiles, but there’s a way to ensure you’re only importing the bits of the profile that you want.

  1. Open iCUE and click the downward facing arrow in the upper left-hand corner.
  2. Click the small symbol of two arrows facing in opposite directions. This will open the Import/Export window. Click “Import”
  3. In this menu check/uncheck the things you want/don’t want. Things that are grey will be ignored when you import the profile, things that are green will come along for the ride.
  4. Press the “+” button and find where you saved the iCUE Profile. (The file type will be “.cueprofile”). Double click that and the file will import.

This will automatically enable the profile, so the lighting will probably change, but don’t worry, your existing profiles are still there. So, if you want the lighting to stay consistent even when changing to this Apex Legends profile, or any other for that matter, you’ll need to recreate your preferred lighting settings in this profile.
