How do iCUE Modules Work?

With iCUE 5, we introduced modularity to the centralized hub software. Our product ecosystem consists of an abundance of PC components, gaming peripherals, and various functionalities, so you may imagine that our corresponding iCUE software for full device functionality has been expanding at an unprecedented rate. iCUE offers the flexibility of controlling RGB lighting (components and peripherals), cooling settings (fans, pump), audio settings, and much more. With the growth of capabilities and products supported, we acknowledged that a modular system to conserve storage and computer resources was essential.

Initial Installation of iCUE Modules

When initially installing iCUE version 5.xx and up, the installer will be able to detect your iCUE devices that are connected at the time. After detecting the iCUE devices, the appropriate modules for full iCUE functionality are downloaded and installed accordingly. This prevents having to download and install modules for products which you do not have in your setup, thus saving storage and resources.

If you decide to add a new iCUE device to your setup, iCUE will be able to automatically detect the device and prompt the new device's name on iCUE's homepage. For this article, our example will be the NIGHTSABRE WIRELESS RGB Gaming Mouse.

After being detected, iCUE will automatically download and install the appropriate module, providing full accessibility to the device's features such as RGB lighting customization. Don't forget to update the device's firmware for any new features or optimizations.
