Help With Devices Not Being Detected by iCUE

Once a device is found in iCUE, all settings, software updates, and firmware flashes should happen through the iCUE suite. But if you are having trouble getting to that point then that makes it difficult to make sure your products are operating as they should. If you’re having trouble detecting your devices, here is a few things you can try.

Getting Connected

The first step is to make sure your hardware is connected. Be sure to connect your external devices as directly as possible. Avoid any external USB hubs or extensions while troubleshooting. Internal devices should have both power and data, either through a single cable like with our iCUE LINK system, or two separate cables connected to an official CORSAIR RGB hub like our commander core or lighting core. If your RAM is not showing up, make sure it is properly seated and is detected by windows. With some specific motherboards, you might need to dive into your BIOS to get control of the RAM’s RGB.

Software Conflicts

Making sure you’re using the latest software will give iCUE the best chance of detecting your device. Updating both windows and iCUE is important for minimizing any security issues and known bugs that might be causing problems. Next, remove or disable any potentially conflicting software. Anything that may replace or interact with your gear at a low level has the potential to mess up communications between your devices and your computer. For example, other software that tries to control hardware lighting a common cause for issues, even if they are from a reputable source.

Repairing iCUE

If you are still having issues, reinstalling, or repairing might be necessary. You can repair iCUE by going to your windows “Installed apps” page, and opening the menu for iCUE, and selecting modify. Repeating these steps after booting windows into safe mode with networking can help minimize any conflicts with other software or old files from previous installations of iCUE. In some cases, running the repair process multiple times has resolved issues.
