CORSAIR VENGEANCE RGB PRO vs RGB PRO SL: What's the Difference?

Here at CORSAIR, we make pretty much everything to do with PC gaming, but we started with RAM, meaning that we have a lot of different options.

One such option is the VENGEANCE RGB PRO lineup. However, there are multiple options within this option. This means that we see some confusion out there, specifically when it comes to VENGEANCE RGB PRO vs VENGEANCE RGB PRO SL.

This is understandable, as both variants are priced almost identically, look very similar, and are available in a lot of the same configurations. So, if you’re wondering which is which and which is the best option for you, then here you go.

CORSAIR VENGEANCE RGB PRO vs RGB PRO SL: Dimensions

The primary difference, and the one that will matter for most people, is that the VENGEANCE RGB PRO SL is significantly shorter than the CORSAIR VENGEANCE RGB PRO.

The main benefit here is the shorter RGB PRO SL means that you’ll have more compatibility with large air coolers, as tall RAM can often cause issues with tower coolers, especially if the fans don’t have a lot of adjustability.

The VENGEANCE RGB PRO measures 52mm tall, whereas the VENGEANCE RGB PRO SL is 44mm tall. Note here that these measurements are the total height of the module itself, not how far it sticks up out of the motherboard. Remember to check for any compatibility issues specifically with air coolers before making your choice.

Additionally, with the popularity of small form-factor builds at an all time high, it’s worth noting here that choosing the VENGEANCE RGB PRO SL is wise for this purpose, too. After all, shorter RAM does makes building in a smaller case like the 2000D far easier.

CORSAIR VENGEANCE RGB PRO vs RGB PRO SL: Design

It’s also worth mentioning that even if you have no particular need for low profile RAM, you might still prefer the RGB PRO SL, as it does have subtle design differences. This means that it’s a good idea to take a look at both the RGB PRO and the RGB PRO SL, just in case you like one over the other. Quick tip: the RGB light strip on the RGB PRO is actually split into 3 sections, whereas the RGB PRO SL’s is uninterrupted. So, RGB enthusiasts should be aware as this is the largest design discrepancy between the two.

CORSAIR VENGEANCE RGB PRO vs RGB PRO SL: Performance

Here we find some of the more tangible differences between the two. To be clear, if you get the same capacity, clock speed, and timings, there will be no performance discrepancy between the two.

However, we offer a greater range of speeds, timings, per-stick capacities, and total kit capacities with the VENGEANCE RGB PRO, over the low-profile PRO SL. So, if you’re after a specific configuration, or just want the maximum performance, then the VENGEANCE RGB PRO is the one to go for.
