What to look for in Computer RAM

Here’s what to consider when shopping for RAM modules:

• Memory size: Available in individual sticks from 4GB–48GB, in general, more RAM provides smoother performance for heavier operations. Also look at combining RAM sticks to maximize your capacity.
• Generation: DDR3 and DDR4 denote older generations, but are still usable depending on your scenario. For top speeds and max capacity, go for DDR5.
• Tested speed: Our RAM has confirmed data speeds ranging from 1066 MHz on the low end, to 2933 on the high end.
• Voltage and compatibility: Dial in the right voltage for your system, and be sure to filter by PC, Mac, and Laptop footprints.

How much RAM does a gaming PC need?

How much RAM is “enough”? Your processor and your graphics card play just as much of a role in how well your system can keep up with your gaming and productivity needs. With that said, more RAM is typically better for “future-proofing” your system. Most average gamers will be satisfied with 16GB right now, but as games get more demanding, 32GB will become more standard. 8GB will work in a pinch, but you’ll feel that churn in heavy video rendering situations.
