Assassin’s Creed Shadows System Requirements and Recommended Specs

The Assassin’s Creed franchise has been going on since 2007 and over those 18 years, the attitude toward these games has fluctuated massively, yet there has been one consistent piece of feedback: “Give us feudal Japan!”

Well, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is doing just that, so it’ll be interesting to see if this long-awaited setting will be received as well as we all hope. In the meantime, however, let’s take a look at the Assassin’s Creed Shadows System requirements.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows System Requirements and Recommended Specs

Assassin’s Creed Shadows Recommended System Requirements

  • OS: Windows 10 / 11
  • CPU: Intel Core i5 11600K / AMD Ryzen 5 5600X
  • GPU: Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8GB / AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT 12GB / Intel Arc B580 12GB
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Storage: SSD Required

Assassin’s Creed Shadows Minimum System Requirements

  • OS: Windows 10 / 11
  • CPU: Intel Core i7 8700K / AMD Ryzen 5 3600
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 8GB / AMD Radeon RX 5700 8GB / Intel Arc A580 8GB
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Storage: SSD Required

You’ll notice how there is no minimum space requirement or RAM capacity listed. You’ll probably be fine with ~100GB for installation. As far as RAM is concerned, 16GB will probably be ok, but 32GB will be better.

Can I Run Assassin’s Creed Shadows?

The minimum and recommended requirements aren’t too scary, which is always nice to see. However, with PC games it always comes down to how well-optimised the game ends up being.

Back to the requirements we do have. As the Assassin’s Creed franchise is one where the enjoyment comes from the atmosphere. Soaking up diligently recreated historic scenery in an open world, punctuated with stabbing politicians and fighting off the incensed guards that weren’t doing their jobs very well.

This is an overwrought way of saying that if you’re falling short of the recommended or minimum specs, a new GPU and more RAM is the correct place to start here. If you’re already rocking a top tier PC and have managed to get a hold of a RTX 50 Series GPU somehow, then a new gaming monitor like the XENEON 34WQHD240-C will display your assassination shenanigans in their best light. A high airflow case like the FRAME 4000D to keep it all running smoothly ain’t a bad idea, either.

What Kind of Game is Assassin’s Creed Shadows?

We mentioned earlier than the attitude towards this franchise has fluctuated, which is in part due to how the overarching game design has changed over time. From stealth and parkour in the early games to full-fledged RPGs recently, with an interesting pit stop at naval combat in there, too.

The last main game in the series, Assassin’s Creed Mirage took the gameplay back to basics, but the reception was lukewarm. So it’s no surprise that this one is going to restore some of the stuff that was stripped out.

So, more RPG stuff, some interesting base-building mechanics, and of course, the defining feature of this entry, dual protagonists (this was actually first seen in Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, but now we’re being pedantic).

Anyway, it looks like you’ll be switching between honourable Bushido business as Yasuke, and some underhanded assassination as Naoe. So, expect a roughly equal amount of stealth stabbing and wicked one-on-one sword combat.

That said, some of the most enjoyable Assassin’s Creed experiences come from exploring the world, and since we’ve waited so long for that world to be set in Japan, Ubisoft better be making it breathtaking.
