Civilization VII System Requirements and recommended specs

Sid Meier’s Civilization franchise is one of the few videogame series’ that has stood fast against the test of time, evolving throughout the years, yet staying true to its roots. From humble pixelated beginnings on MS-DOS, through to the ray-tracing PCs of today, Civilization remains a peaceful (sometimes) respite from modern gaming.

And now, nine long years since the release of Civ VI, we are finally getting the next entry in the series. Let’s take a look at the Civilization VII system requirements, so you can make sure you’re equipped to wage war and cultivate cabbages.

Can I run Civilization VII?

Turn-based and real-time strategy games are known for weighing more heavily on the CPU compared to the GPU. This is unsurprising given that a core tenet of these games are complex and continuous simulations, often to ridiculously granular levels of detail. Not so much trying to hit 240Hz refresh rates while tracing rays.

So, if your PC falls a little short of the Civ VII PC Requirements, a new CPU should be the first port of call. Whether you upgrade or hold fast, making sure your CPU stays cool while it simulates your imperial fantasies is vital. Coincidentally, we just happen to make a many AIO Coolers, with the TITAN 360 RX or NAUTILUS 360 RS being two swell choices here. A full on custom loop would perhaps be overkill for Civilization VII, but it wouldn’t hurt.

What kind of game is Civilization VII?

Civilization VII is, as the Civilization series has always been, a turn-based strategy game that allows you to shape the future of your people. From hunter-gatherer types all the way to a fully-fledged, space-faring race of people.

It’s a long road to get there, though. Along the way, you’ll innovate and invent, defend and depose, overthrow and evolve – all while guiding your people to form any type of civilization you like. These kinds of games are incredibly open-ended, so your experience will differ from anyone else’s.
