How to fix a CPU_FAN error?

WHY DOES THE CPU_FAN ERROR MESSAGE SHOW UP?

There is an especially heart stopping moment when you finish building your PC. You've connected everything internally correctly, the mouse and keyboard are connected to the PC via USB and on the monitor appears:

  • "CPU Fan Error!"
  • "Alert! CPU 0 fan failure."
  • "Error: CPU fan has failed!"
  • "CPU FAN speed error detected"

Firstly, don't panic. Then try the options listed below.

  • First, as a safety precaution, turn off your PC and check that the pump head is correctly connected to the socket on the motherboard.
  • Next, check that the 1-pin tachometer* is correctly connected to the CPU_FAN socket on the motherboard.

If everything is OK, turn on your PC and enter the BIOS.

Here you can get a first overview of the CPU temperature and check if it heats up very quickly (75°C+). If this is the case, switch off the PC by pressing and holding the power button and contact support.

If the CPU stays at a lower temperature level (25-50°C), the pump is working and there is another reason for this.
