The CORSAIR XD5 RGB Elite uses the same pump as previous Hydro X Series generation XD5 units—the Xylem D5 (also previously known as the Laing D5). This pump is well known in the custom cooling community as both quiet, reliable and very powerful.
We have seen questions online regarding if the CORSAIR XD5 RGB has a lower flow rate than other pump/reservoir combo's with D5 pumps, but rest assured that the D5 pump used in our units is the same pump as you will find in other pump/reservoir units that boasts the use of a D5.
On the technical specifications of our pump we just mention flow rate at a given pressure head (In our case, 800L/h at 2.1m pressure head) where we see other vendors just stating the theoretical max flow rate of the pump motor with no pressure head (around 1500 L/h).
Since we connect the pump to a PCB that converts everything into a single iCUE LINK connector we do not recommend swapping out the pump. If you do so, it will need to be the same model of pump, and would need to have the connectors mounted as you can see in the above picture in order to connect to the PCB.

While the new design of the XD5 RGB Elite suggest that the unit is bigger, it actually is around the same size as the old XD5. This is due to the new unit just having a big aluminum cover that hides the pump and electronics inside.
