How to upgrade the standard panels to elite panels on 6500D/X

You can switch between interchangeable PCIe brackets to mount your GPU either vertically or horizontally. Additionally, you can replace panels in the front and top of the case to match the color theme of your setup.

There are different CORSAIR Elite panel kits for the 6500 series case that have five different finishes.

For this step-by-step guide, we will use the white 6500X variant, which, in terms of exterior design, is technically the same as the iCUE 6500X RGB.

• First, open the side panel. You do not need to remove it completely; you can leave it attached to the case.

The 6500X and iCUE 6500X RGB variants come with three replaceable panels: the front right panel (1), the top right panel (2), which houses the I/O ports, and the top left panel (3). However, if you own the 6500D Airflow variant, you can swap out an additional panel, making it a total of four replaceable panels. We will discuss this additional panel in more detail later.

• Remove the screws that are holding the front right panel in place. There are six screws located behind the top right panel.

• Then remove the screws for both the top right panel and the top left panels. There are three screws located at the upper back section of the case.

• Once the screws are removed, slide both top panels back a bit to detach them from the main chassis.

• Lift the top right panel and unscrew the front I/O ports. Once all the panels are removed (see image on the right), prepare the Elite panel kit for installation.

The kit includes four Elite panels. The panel labeled 4 in the image below is used for the 6500D Airflow variant.

• Install the front I/O port on the top right panel, then place it back on the chassis. For the top left panel, use the panel that has an L bracket at the end (refer to the image below). Secure them from the back using the three screws.

• Once the top right and top left panels are in place, install the front right panel, the one with the CORSAIR logo.

• Line up the screw mounts behind the panel with the screw holes in the front of the chassis. Use the six screws to secure it in place.

And that’s it; your 6500X or iCUE 6500X RGB now has a brand-new look.

For the 6500D Airflow variant, a fourth panel can be placed on the front left side of the case.

To replace the standard panel with the Elite panel, you need to remove five screws - three behind the panel and two on the side. Once you remove all screws, the standard panel can be taken out and the Elite panel can be installed easily.
